Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.
A senior official stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
